on alot of the three single coil pickup strats, two of the single coil pickups are wound out of phase or “one is wound backwards” so when you select the position that combines those two pickups, it is a humbucking position, the reverse would coil cancels the hum. thats what he was saying because his is wired that way. So he is exactly right.

Yes, a humbucker is like 2 single coil pickups in one. When he said humbucker position, i think he was referring to the bridge pickup, because on “fat strats” that’s where the humbucker is located. This is not a “fat strat” so that was wrong.
