    This is the simplest, yet best explanation of the chords I have ever heard/ seen. My guitar teacher was pretty good, but there is something about the direct and “keep it simple” attitude of jocat which shows that he is genuinely trying to teach us the basics and is not just here to show off his guitar skills. Thanks a lot, this has helped to cement my concepts very well as I am getting back to guitar playing after 1 year.

    @luvmycorso
    when you go up the scale it’s sharp. When you go down you call it flat. But it’s actually impossible to get a real sharp or a real flat on the guitar or piano because the way they work. A musical note is divided in 9 comas, 5 up it’s sharp, 5 down it’s flat. So they are basically the same on these instruments. An instrument where you can go sharp or flat on a note it’s violin.

    One fact i learned, …
    One fact i learned, the more mathmatically inclined you are the easier it is to pick up the concept of music. Vice versa. Ive always struggled with math. Ive been playing my guitar off & on for years and i still dont have the fretboard even halfway memorized. I still have to stop & think which string im playing. Only a person who has problems w/ math & numbers can relate to what im saying. And yet i accel in mechanics, computers & art. I do understand this lesson. But its never become automatic.
