This solo starts really simple but at the the end i speed it up a little bit.My early influences are too strong.
Here i use a lot of different techniques.
-Pinch Harmonics
-simple pull offs ala Jimmy Page
-Double Stops
-simple Bendings
-Legatoarpeggios with some Tapping
-Tapping with the pick ala Joe Satriani
-Fast picking ala Tony McAlpine/Petrucci
-sweeping ala Yngwie Malmsteen
-big streching ala Richie Kotzen.
The whole solo is improvised but i wanted it to sound more structured.
Hope you have some fun with this crazy little solo.

I am in the same situation as you! I took lessons for awhile but mostly play by ear! Keep at it and play with friends, know your chords and scales and that’s a big part of it. But I am 20 and started guitar at 18. It’s not too late. Playing keyboard does help. Go for it!
