2 Revolution The Beatles Both Guitar Parts With Tabs! The backing track I’m using is the left channel of the original recording, it does not contain the guitars. All of the guitars you hear are mine. There are a couple of lead fills that are not me and you’ll know when you hear them. If you don’t see me playing the part on the screen, it isn’t me.

The first half of this video shows me playing John’s part, the second half shows me playing George’s part.

In regards to the David Frost performance: The David Frost performance had a pre-recorded backing track (the original recording) with live vocals. Although John is playing in the open position on the show, he could not have muted the A string which is *essential* for his part. Try it and you’ll see. Playing the part the way I am playing it and the way it was recorded would have required John to look at the fretboard almost the entire time – not good for a TV performance. If you try it both ways, I think you’ll agree.

George varies his position throughout. Again, the notes he is playing in the video do not correspond to the audio of his guitar.

The links to the individual parts are below.

Here’s the deal on the tuning:

You’ll need a digital tuner to be precise:

Tune your low E string to: F (now tune it sharp to 450Hz)

Tune your A string to: Bb (now tune it sharp to 450Hz)

Tune your D string to: Eb (now tune it sharp to 450Hz)

Tune your G string to: Ab (now tune it sharp to 450Hz)

Tune your B string to: C (now tune it sharp to 450Hz)

Tune your high E string to: F (now tune it sharp to 450Hz)

I really appreciate the overwhelming response to this classic tune!

heheh… You just make me smile, man. I swear, you are the best in the world at this stuff, you should be working and getting paid for doing this for Guitar Hero, because you are certainly MUCH more accurate. All I want to know is WHO is the a.h. who didn’t give this 5 stars. One after 909 on the Beatles Naked is among the best rock songs ever recorded, no matter how much John didn’t like George’s solo. Would love to see ya tackle that one, too, Twangy.

  • MrMonteCarloRacing:

    For the distortion …
For the distortion sound on john’s guitar, rather than using a distortion pedal, sound engineer Jeff Emerick simply plugged john’s guitar directly into the recording deck and turned it up until the V.U. meters pegged which caused the distortion. Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanon – telecaster masters. Check out Roy’s version of “Sweet Dreams” beautiful instrumental.. Ironically, both of these INCREDIBLE players commited suicide, a sad and tragic loss to the music industry.

    Ouch!! you’re …
Ouch!! you’re killin’ me here :-) You have an uncanny knack of picking my all time favorite stuff. Exile and Let It Bleed were Stones at their best. I wore out these vinyls completely. I’ve always thought Midnight Rambler one of the most brilliant R&R arrangements of all time. pity pity pity…..a generation will miss out because of denying guys like you the rights. Gatton also was a brilliant and seminal pioneer , his stuff always so much harder than he mades it look, without a doubt.

  • 1234gregor:

    I really like your …
I really like your new style of doing two important parts of a song like this – shows how the textures of the original recording were built which is so often lost in single guitar approximations etc. Love this ‘cos the first record I ever bought was Hey Jude/Revolution!

BTW, my guitar is a ’73 SG that looks identical to yours in every detail – except u have some sort of plate between the pickups – what’s that?

  • rockitmn:

    Wow!!! what a great …
Wow!!! what a great ear you have Sam. Thanks for another beautiful treat! That’s a crying shame about the Stones stuff. Those people are so shortsighted and ignorant to prevent such free promotion.
