If you pick up the …
If you pick up the guitar by the headstock to look down the neck, gravity will pull the guitar down and give it a false bow. The better way to do it is to hold the guitar in playing position, and check the neck by holding the string down at the first and last fret, THEN compare the neck to the string. A good way is to use a feeler gauge to see how big a gap there is between the top of the fret and the bottom of the string, right in the middle.

I agree these expertvillage experts are a joke, but as far as the tuning is concerned, the guy was only tuning it to pitch to check the action, it wasn’t like he was going to hand it to Jeff Beck on stage or anything.
A couple of cents out wouldn’t matter one whit as far as action adjustment is concerned.
