2 How to change your guitar strings using the tie method As I was changing the strings on my 1971 Guild D-35 I felt compelled to share my methods with all of my YouTube friends and watchers. This is what I believe to be the best way…it works for me (which is very important to me as a performer) and as I’ve shared it with friends it has also helped them. This is an opinion video based on my 35 years of experience…try it and see if it works for you also. I always recommend trying this before replacing anything on the guitar as it gets you close to what a locking tuner gets you. The next thing to look at when you have tuning issues is the nut…the most common cause of problems…and the string trees if there are any. Sometimes a little bit of graphite in the string slots (of the nut) when you change strings will do the trick, sometimes you need to do some filing or replacing. I will try to do a similar video for the next Strat and/or Tele I get as I have a few tricks that help keep them in tune as well as sounding their best.
