Saffron Burrows stars as Mel, a young woman, existing in New York City, who loses her boyfriend and her job and is given a devastating terminal cancer diagnosis by her doctor all on the same day. Mel’s surprising response to her misfortunes includes renting a loft and the purchase of a special guitar. She always wanted to play the guitar since she was a little girl. Why not do all the things you want to do especially when you only have a short time to live.
This captivating portrait of a woman’s self-empowerment (including a tryst with the pizza delivery girl and the deliver man) won raves at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
